One should focus on the appropriate criteria when determining whether they've achieved their desired goal. |
Mt. Everest has the distinction of being the tallest mountain in the world. Climbing to the top is the topic of most stories, but is the summit really the goal? From 1924 thru August 2015, 4,093 individuals stood on the summit. A total of 282 died in their pursuit. The death-to-summit ratio was over 7%. Meaning for every 100 that made it the top, 7 died. Even more startling is the statistic that 56% of all deaths that occurred happened after they had made it to the summit! Did those climbers succeed or fail? |
